Hey, there. My name is Viola Kate and I love to read cozy books. I am a copy editor, proofreader, and life story coach always working to improve my crafts.

My favorite way to learn is to read fiction. It is through the pages of a great book that I learn my limits, my opinions, and my motives. Great literature is a catalyst for self-awareness and can be of benefit to all types of people.

At the Literary Cottage I offer essays on basically anything that interests me about reading clean fiction that I think others might find useful. You’ll find book reviews, book lists, homeschool book ideas, journal prompts, editing tips and style tips for writers.

My Educational Background

My degree is in piano education and I have taught in many different scenarios, but my heart has always been in the books. After college I taught piano for several years and then quit teaching when we started our family.

Now, as a homeschool mom of 6, my heart is still in the books.

We do so many things together, but our family culture is defined by how much we get to read everyday.

Continuing My Education

I earned my copy editing certificate at Writer’s Digest University, and I’m working on my proofreading certificate at Proofread Anywhere.

I also like to take a class or two each year in an effort to redeem my education. Currently my favorite places to take classes are The House of Humane Letters, University of Cambridge, Versed~ Community, and Memoria College.

I am a certified Life Story Coach through Transformation Academy and strive to make everything I write meaningful for you. I hope you can find something that you love here.
