Kit has inherited her great aunt’s home and tea shop. She gets to keep everything as long as she runs the tea shop in the fae tourist town for three years…and also takes care of her pet owl named Rowan.

πŸ§šβ€β™€ Delightful Setting

The tourist fae town that Kit has moved to is an absolute delight. No vehicles are allowed within city limits to maintain the aesthetic for tourists.

But everyone still has a smart phone and orders their groceries through an app.

Every book defines β€œfae” and other magical creatures in different ways, and I really enjoyed these characters: Pixies, elves, high fae, shifters, and mages all had unique magic and unique talents that made for a diverse small town of magical shops.

πŸ˜† Hilarious Banter

I laughed out loud quite a lot while reading this book. My daughters kept looking at me wondering what had me giggling. I was able to explain some of the scenes, and even they were cracking up.

The banter was not just between two love interests. It also happened between Kit and Rowan the owl, between others in the town who were old friends, and between Kit and a hilarious elf.

Kit was such a unique character. Her being a summer pixie added several elements to the story that allowed her to be witty but also somewhat aloof. She was simply adorable.

πŸͺ„ Unique Magic

Kit was unable to control her pixie magic, but there were certain things about it that added very interesting elements to the story. I will name them but not describe any details because I don’t want to give spoilers.

Her magic influences the moods of those around her. Summer pixies specifically bring sunshine to those in the vicinity. But when summer pixies are sad, it rains.

There is one more aspect to their magic that I’ll include in the spoilers under the Paid Perks!

Full Disclosure: I have read the second book in the series and it was a bit too β€œphysical” for me. There was only one make-out scene, but it just wasn’t for me. I don’t plan to read the third book.

πŸ¦‰Who Would Like This Book

You will probably like this book if you like:

  • cozy fantasy
  • slow-burn romance (clean but high tension in a couple scenes so it’s definitely for adults so far, not teens)
  • delightful banter
  • modern setting with a horse-and-buggy twist
  • interesting magic systems
  • twists and big reveals.

I hope you enjoy this one!
