Just a quick note inspired by my personal journaling…
Recently I learned about the idea of the “quest”.1 Many characters are sent on or take themselves on a quest in our books, but the physical destination is never the real reason for this journey. The real reason is always a quest for self-discovery; the physical quest is just a means to that end.
Is this not what life is? A quest? We are given a task, or giving ourselves a task, to accomplish. We encounter the nemesis, the dark knight (or dark night) that threatens to derail our task. And we may discover that it was never about the journey after all, but what the journey could teach us.
Life is a quest and you are the main character. Our books portray this quest over and over so that we may learn to recognize our own, and make the discoveries about ourselves that we are here to learn.
What quest are you on now? Have you recently triumphed over a dark (k)night or two? Celebrate your adventures, and keep reading fiction so you know that you are never alone on your journey ❤.
