I did a little internet searching to find some fun categories to give some lighthearted awards to my 2025 pile of books!

If you have any books that you’d like to offer these awards, please share in the comments!

I found these quirky award ideas on this website: Click to see.

πŸ† Best Book Club Book

πŸ“š The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton

I read this along with the Literary Life Podcast and thoroughly enjoyed my time reading it and listening to the discussions. This book follows a dislikable male character who is determined to marry for practical reasons but feels his heart pulled the direction of love (or infatuation). The symbolism of the new age of society coming in was wonderfully portrayed.

πŸ† Best Plot Twist

πŸ“š A Midnight Dance by Joanna Davidson Politano

In this historical romance, Ella is determined to gain the attention of the lead dancer in her company because of a memory from years before while solving the mystery that surrounds a tragedy that happened to her parents many years ago.

πŸ† Best Book to Read While you Wait

πŸ“š Cold-Blooded Myrtle by Elizabeth C. Bunce

Myrtle is the best character to read in short spurts or if you have time to settle in for a while. In this book, Myrtle is trying to solve a mystery connected to her own late mother.

πŸ† Quirkiest Character

Valwynn from πŸ“š Song of Vines by Deborah Grace White

Valwynn is the elf who gives Jacinta the magic beans that grow into a vine that take her into the land of the giants. All of the elves in this series have their quirks, but Valwynn is actually kind of cute and likable.

πŸ† Best Side Character

Janushek from πŸ“š City of Serpents by Christina Baehr

Who doesn’t love Janushek, a former spy, and how he comes to Edith’s rescue when she charges ahead without thought of the consequences?

πŸ† Best Creature Character

Rain from πŸ“š Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin

The dog named Rain isn’t exactly a main character in this story, but when Rain goes missing it does spur Rose on an adventure that is simultaneously heartbreaking and redemptive.
